DAAD Kenya - German Academic Exchange Service

Artificial intelligence is rapidly advancing in Burundi, being used in universities, hospitals, government buildings and the country's growing digital economy.But as the technology becomes more prevalent, it presents a key question: who is responsible for ensuring that AI serves society in an honest, fair and ethical manner? This matter was at the centre of a two-day training organized in Bujumbura by ABADAAD, the association of former Burundian beneficiaries of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

These past two days, on the 29th and 30th of July 2026,  the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) was proud to take part in the 17th Annual Meeting and Conference of the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) in Nairobi. The occasion celebrated the launch of IUCEA’s Strategic Plan 2026–2031 and the introduction of the Regional AI Network of Universities, which reaffirms the region’s dedication to educational innovation.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) extends its congratulations to the recipients of the 2026 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's scholarships. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and outstanding potential, the scholarships enable talented students from around the world to pursue high-quality joint master's programmes offered by leading European universities.
