Karibu: New German Ambassador to Kenya, Sebastian Groth!

On Friday 5 August 2022, Mr. Sebastian Groth presented his credentials to President Uhuru Kenyatta as the new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kenya. He will also be accredited as Ambassador to the Seychelles, Somalia and as the Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and to the United Nations Human Settlements Program UN-HABITAT, based in Nairobi.

H.E. Ambassador Sebastian Groth, an economist and sociologist by training, joined the German Federal Foreign Office in 2000. His first posting abroad actually brought him to Nairobi for the first time from 2001 to 2004 – serving as First Secretary for Somalia, Burundi and South Sudan as well as Cultural and Press Attaché. In the past years, he has held senior posts in the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, the most recent being that of Director for Policy Planning from 2019 till 2022.
