DAAD Nairobi expressed its gratitude to partners, alumni and reviewers at an “End of year breakfast” on December 3, 2021

After almost two years of no face-to-face events, the regional office of the DAAD in Nairobi invited partners, alumni and reviewers to a joint breakfast at the Sankara Hotel on Friday the 3rd of December, 2021. Despite the rain, more than 20 guests attended the event.

In her short address, the Director of the Regional Office for Africa, Ms. Beate Schindler-Kovats thanked those present for their reliable and loyal cooperation over the past two years: “We really appreciate your support, especially in these times. That is why we wanted to meet you today; to thank you personally. ”

The DAAD’s work and mission in the region is severely affected by COVID. Nevertheless, in 2020 and 2021, the DAAD selected grants for the DAAD programs in Germany and the region in almost 60 (virtual) commissions.

The director wished the partners a happy holiday and expressed her hope for more personal encounters, face-to-face events and interactions in the coming year. “In the past two years we have had to switch a lot to online and virtual formats because of Corona. I hope that the situation will improve so that in 2022 the DAAD can again be more present at trade fairs, universities and events since personal cooperation is very important to us!” she said.

During the breakfast, the guests were able to get to know the DAAD employees and find out about the work and new developments at the information table.

The guests were happy to finally meet the colleagues with whom they had only had virtual contact since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. “We are happy to finally give faces to the names,” said one reviewer.

The DAAD office in Nairobi wishes all its partners, reviewers and friends a happy, peaceful and healthy Christmas!
