The DAAD regional office in Nairobi welcomed scholarship recipients of the German Studies Master’s programme at the University of Nairobi to exchange experiences and get to know one another. They have been scholarship recipients from October 2020, have studied online till September 2021 (because of the corona pandemic), and just had the opportunity to see each other in April 2022 during the study programme in Nairobi.

The recipients of these scholarships are from Sub-Saharan Africa, from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, and Togo. They have successfully applied for further education. From October 2021 to March 2022, they spent a semester abroad at a German institution, where they prepared their master’s thesis.

The M.A. German Studies programme at the University of Nairobi was established in 1993 with the intention of fostering the next generation of German educators. Since 2011, the DAAD has supported the program with scholarships, tuition expenses, and a stay in Germany.
