How to Apply:

E-Mail applications only with the following documents/ information:

–          A research abstract (max. 400 words in word format) of the PhD project to be undertaken (For the abstract to be considered, it MUST contain your name, title of the abstract, the problem statement, clearly stated objectives, methodology)

–          scanned electronic copy of the Master’s certificate (degree not older than 6 years)

–          At which German university do you want to do your PhD (and why), OR contact of a potential supervisor in Germany/ Graduate school

–          Your expectations of the workshop (max. 5 sentences)

Applicants still awaiting examination of their Master’s thesis must provide a scanned electronic copy of the letter of submission from the university.

We urge prospective applicants to Germany to consider their participation in this workshop! Please also note that eventually, a supervisor in Germany is needed for a scholarship application, and you may want to start your search NOW.

We invite young postdoctoral scientists with completed PhD degrees from central institutions of land policy in Africa to apply for funding for NELGA postdoctoral fellowships.
Applicants must have completed their PhD degree at a state or state recognized institution of higher education; have a background in land governance/ land management or a related field (e.g. land administration, land economics, urban and regional planning, geomatics); be nationals of an African country; be granted leave of absence by their home institution in case of conducting a field study or research stay abroad.

Female applicants will be given special consideration and candidates from less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to apply.

*         Financial support for scientific publications

*         Networking opportunities fostering collaboration and exchange with peers and experts from the Network of Excellence on Land Governance in Africa NELGA

In addition to that, DAAD plans to offer a VIRTUAL INFORMATION SESSION for interested applicants on 22nd February 2024, 11:00 CET (Central European Time). If you are interested in this session, please use this link to attend the event.

The main language of the event will be in English, but information materials will be translated into French. Questions & Answers will be in both English and French.

The start of the fellowship is 1 July 2024

The Center for Lifelong Learning (C3L) at the University of Oldenburg (Germany) and Rongo University (Kenya) are jointly organising the DIES University Leadership and Management Training Programme UNILEAD Eastern Africa 2024 in Rongo (Kenya), enabling young managers at Higher Education Institutions in Eastern African countries to successfully tackle every-day challenges. In order to do so, the programme brings together the
topics Project Management, Digital Transformation in Higher Education and Collaboration in Higher Education with individual and practice-oriented change projects of each participant.
Developed in 2008, UNILEAD is part of the DIES programme (Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies), which is jointly coordinated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) since 2001 and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
