Who Governs AI? DAAD Alumni Lead Burundi's Conversation on Ethical Artificial Intelligence
The event, led by DAAD alumnus Yvan Giriteka, was supported by a DAAD alumni grant. It brought together students, researchers, medical workers, software developers and tech leaders to discuss what artificial intelligence can do and how it should be regulated.
It was not only new technologies, but also ethics, public trust and responsibility. The workshop was titled “AI Governance and Data Ethics in the Digitalization Era.” As people argued about the benefits and risks of AI, one message kept coming up: the future of AI will be about more than just smarter algorithms. It will also depend on good policies, responsible government and smart leadership.
