DAAD Nairobi Regional Office Takes Part in 2nd Kenyan-German Labour Mobility Job Fair
Representing DAAD Nairobi Regional Office at the fair were: Komivi Mawusime Lasmothey, Charity Mugure, Jules Onyango and Kulturweit intern Amelia Nadia Weit.
Over the course of the event, the DAAD booth, under the theme #studyforskills, received significant attention. On Day 1, 91 individuals visited the booth, engaging with staff and learning about available scholarships, postgraduate programs, and research opportunities in Germany. Visitors to our booth also had the chance to experience studying in Germany via videos on a VR Headset and engaging in a quiz on how well they knew Germany. On day 1, Charity Mugure of DAAD made a presentation on studying in Germany to the general audience.
Interest increased substantially on Day 2, with 177 visitors recorded mostly young people and notably, Roseline K. Njogu, a prominent figure in Kenya. Roseline K. Njogu holds the title of Principal Secretary, State Department for Diaspora Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs (Kenya). Her presence at the DAAD booth, including her interested in DAAD’s work, underscored the importance of DAAD’s role in fostering international academic exchange and professional development in the Eastern African region.
The job fair proved to be an excellent platform for DAAD to connect with potential applicants and partners, reaffirming DAAD’s commitment to promoting the internationalization of higher education and research collaboration between Kenya and Germany and in the Eastern African region. It was also interesting to note that many visitors to the fair had basic to fluent level German language. The success of the booth’s engagement reflects the increasing interest in German education among Kenyan students and professionals.
