DAAD Kenya Takes Part in a Study in Germany Seminar at United States International University-Africa
USIU played host to the event that also attracted other students from the University of Nairobi, Mount Kenya University, JKUAT, United States International University-Africa. The late afternoon session involved speakers engaging the audience of around 60 students on practical, career ready education in Germany and Germany as a global study environment.
Charity Tongoi and Vera Bwire represented DAAD Kenya Regional Office. Charity took the students through a presentation telling them about DAAD, the scholarship and funding opportunities that DAAD offers, more so those whose deadlines are upcoming, and a Q&A session about DAAD. Charity extended her presentation, by giving her lived experience in Germany as a student, and how it is like balancing life and studies in Germany.
Vera Bwire, took care of the DAAD booth, sharing with students information material on the different categories of funding and scholarship opportunities that DAAD Kenya offers to Kenyans and the Eastern African region; also answering to the different questions on studying in Germany.
Key individuals in attendance were: Kofi Agyeman Duah Boachie Danquah Global Sales Manager, International Hub, PFH Private University of Applied Sciences, Kasiva of BU Education and Victoria of Twone, the latter two being education consultancies in Kenya with an agreement to recruit students on behalf of PFH. USIU was represented by Marura Nyambu, Graduate Academic Advisor, School of Graduate Studies USIU. In attendance was also a representative from an institution that conducts TOEFL exams.
The event, well attended, highlighted the need for more engagement of DAAD with different universities in Kenya, as a good number of attendees, were getting of know about scholarship opportunities to Germany for the first time. USIU Africa, school of graduate studies also seemed to be interested in a DAAD-USIU collaboration.
