Euro Film Festival: DAAD presents scholarship and funding opportunities to Germany
Charity Tongoi, DAAD Programme Officer, and Vera Bwire, DAAD Marketing Officer (short term), represented DAAD Kenya, as part of the EU mission to the university. Also present were a team of two from the European Union Delegation to Kenya. Receiving us from the Kabarak University side were the Dean of Music and Media, who was representing the Vice Chancellor.
The day began with a courtesy call at the Dean’s office, where DAAD, among the other attendees of the courtesy call presented on the mandate of DAAD not only in Kenya, but the region, as well as the impact that DAAD has had in its 50 years of existence in the region. DAAD also highlighted the current scholarships and funding opportunities to Germany and abroad. The Dean was later presented with two gift bags for the institution from DAAD. The Dean appreciated the gesture and requested possible collaborations and potential other visits by DAAD to Kabarak University.

The delegation, together with nearly 100 students then attended the screening of Lamb, a German-Ethiopian-French production, presentations from the EU and DAAD, and later during the break, the students visited the DAAD booth to learn more about the opportunities to Germany. Most students, of Bachelor’s level were interested notably in Masters courses and Summer programmes. Almost 10 lecturers visited the DAAD booth, where they were told about PhD scholarships, bilateral change of academics as well as Masters scholarships, which they could then tell their students about.
