We congratulate Dr. Brenda Akia, DAAD alumna, who has become the first Ugandan to be elected at the United Nations as the Vice Chair and Rapporteur of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) Committee, as well as the Chair of the African Group.  

Dr. Brenda Akia from Uganda has been a member of the United Nations CEDAW Committee since 2022. The committee monitors the implementation of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
