Dr. Yves Ndayikunda, DAAD alumnus in the In-Country/In-Region program, studied at Daystar University in Kenya from 2016-2019 with a DAAD PhD grant and is now Head of a private university in Burundi. He was interested in finding out about cooperation opportunities and scholarship programs for the still young university and expressed his interest in a partnership with the DAAD and other university institutions in the region.
The Director, Beate Schindler-Kovats, explained the DAAD funding offers for and with Burundi, including the “Leadership for Africa” scholarship program, the university summer courses in Germany, PhD programs and the In-Country/In-Region program. Burundi is a partner of the DAAD Regional office in East Africa and participates in university cooperation projects and European funding opportunities such as ERASMUS+.
Dr. Ndayikunda and Beate Schindler-Kovats expressed their interest in more cooperation, it was agreed that Dr. Ndayikunda as an alumnus and contact person, would support the promotion of the DAAD programs in Burundi and, as a multiplier, mobilize his networks for closer cooperation.
