Master’s Program in International Media Studies: Apply now!

The four-semester Master’s degree offers an unparalleled mix of research, lectures and practical experience and prepares students for careers in the digital media industries.
Since September 2009, Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster has been offering the Master’s Program “International Media Studies“.
The full-time program combines topics like digital media and development, journalism, communication science and media management, whilst developing skills and competencies that are important for the world of media. This practice-oriented program optimally prepares graduates for a career in the international media industry. The Master’s Program is a joint project of the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) University of Applied Sciences, the University of Bonn and Deutsche Welle. DW Akademie, Deutsche Welle’s international training institute, offers a perfect environment for learning and training for up to 30 students per year.
The duration of the program is four semesters. The students conclude the course with a master’s thesis and colloquium. Successful graduates receive a Master of Arts (M.A.). Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification as well as at least one year of professional experience in a media-related field after having obtained their B.A.
In addition, they need to provide proof of their language skills in English (C1). Tuition will cost a total of 6,000€. Exceptionally qualified students from developing and countries in transition can apply for a limited number of DAAD scholarships and will write their Master’s thesis and complete the degree in their home country.
